I got a couple of responses to my last post. Not that you can see them here. They were posted on some other blog, because hardly anyone reads this one. And no one comments. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (*sob*)
Both people seem to have thought that I was promoting the scenario I outlined - that I want to see such a traffic system implemented, or at least that I think such a system could be feasible. It's probabaly my own fault for phrasing the question as I did, but that was not the point of the experiment.
What I am interested in is what people think about intermittent rewards. I am curious about the conclusion social scientists have reached (if indeed they have) that intermittent rewards work the best. It's just a 'what if' question. It's along the same lines as, 'What if you were in a plane and terrorists tried to hijack it? Do you think their threat and fear tactics would work, or would you fight them so that your plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania,' or, 'What if there was no such thing as elastic? How would we keep our socks up?'
By asking the above questions I am not promoting plane hijacking or eliminating stretchy cloth. Likewise, the thought experiment was not about whether such a traffic system would work - only that *if* such a system were in place, would it have the intended effect on you, personally.
I'll admit that it looks like I was arguing for it, but you'll just have to trust me. I only meant for the system to be plausible from a casual, informal standpoint. I didn't intend it to stand up under scrutiny.

I wanted to clarify I did not believe you in favour of implementing the intermittant reward system. I argued against why it wouldnt work for me, personally, but I wanted to also note my opinion on how it would work for society in general.
And blame Arglor for the lack of comments. If he would have put a link to your page instead of posting the entire thing in his own. I would have made the comments in your page. I thought this was from a discussion he had with you and did not realize not only that he had blatantly copied the information direction from your webpage, but also that you had a webpage. He should also put your website in his links.
hmm Wait a Minute I am god. Let me fix that, hehe.
Truly you are a god of justice. ;-)
Oh, and thanks for visiting, wilbur!
As I told Dav- er, Arglor, the other day, my blog is lonely. He said, "Your blog is lonely. Your BLOG is LONELY??"
Yup. That's my story and I'm sticking by it.
