I shudder to think about what the indirect costs are. Clearly, we will be paying for this over the long haul.

The cost is incalculable. The job wasn't finished in Afghanistan when Bush turned aside to Iraq. Canadian soldiers are dying there as a direct consequence.
Meanwhile, the USA has its hands full in Iraq, and the lunatic President of Iran can develop nuclear weapons and threaten to destroy Israel, knowing there's not a thing the Americans can do about it.
In other words, there's a domino effect at work here. How will events play out in the lifetime of our children? I don't assume the worst, but a risk analysis must conclude that the misadventure in Iraq has made the world a more dangerous place. Thank you, GWB.
I couldn't agree more, Stephen.
